GlassRace and sloth visited Ground Zero on the fifth anniversary of 9/11. Here are some of the photos we made.

We arrived very early on the morning of the 11th and got some beautiful pictures of the area around Ground Zero.

The ceremony honoring the events of 9/11 began around 8:00.

This firehouse bell was rung after the reading of each name. Volunteers lined up for the opportunity to ring the bell:

We noticed this policeman several times photographing almost everyone wearing a black t-shirt - the unofficial 'dress code' for the 9/11 truth protest planned for this morning. After he took my picture for the third time, I decided to take his as well:

The crowd begins to gather. The producers of the film Loose Change were the ostensible organizers of the gathering. They handed out t-shirts, banners, and thousands of DVDs:

Later in the morning, folks gathered for a silent march down Church Street. Here's part of the line that ended up stretching several blocks:

This staircase is the last surviving above-ground remnant of the WTC as has been added to the list of endangered historic places by the National Trust for Historic Preservation:
